Matthias Ehle

A list of lists I like...

I work as an astronomer and team leader of the XMM-Newton Community Support & Mission Planning Team at ESA's XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre in Villafranca, close to Madrid.

Before moving on to Spain, I was research assistant at the Max-Planck-Institut für Extraterrestrische Physik (MPE) in Garching near Munich, and a member of the X-ray astronomy group.

From Jan. 1996 to June 1997, I worked as a Postdoc at the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) in Sydney, Australia. My major research interests are: X-ray and radio emission from galaxies, star-bursts and AGNs, the formation of galactic radio and X-ray halos and the study of cosmic magnetic fields.

Some of these topics were part of my Ph.D thesis undertaken at the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR:Radio Continuum Group) in Bonn.

I am a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG), and of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI, Association of German Engineers).

From 2008-2010 I have been a member of the Chandra Users' Committee.

You can find me on Facebook, as well.
